Girth & Mirth & Cleveland--A new club is forming in Cleveland. Girth & Mirth is a club for the big man and his admirer. The main purpose of the organization is to offer a safe meeting place where both big men and their admirers can socialize without being chastized.
One of the last discriminations to be brought to light is that of being gay. Add to that the flagrant discrimination against being fat and a double header discrimination is in the open. The second purpose of Girth & Mirth is to educate not only our members that fat is not bad and that to like fat men is not bad, but to educate the gay community that we are intelligent, fun, and caring men to speak with and get to know. We are a viable group in our community, be it gay or not.
The Cleveland club is being sponsored by Girth & Mirth--Detroit until the group is strong enough to be on its own.
If you wish details on G & M, contact Ken Richter, 24728 Donald Ave., Redford, Mich. 48239, 313-531-3907 voice, 313531-0733 fax.

Gay travelers' home exchange-Club EX Network, the International Home Exchange and Hospitality Club, recently established a toll free number for information in the U.S. The organization, launched last year and based in London, is the first home exchange and hospitality networking service for gays and lesbians worldwide.
The home exchange service helps vacationers travel for much lower costs, since the cost of housing is reduced to zero. It also encourages cultural exchange between gays and lesbians of different countries.
With over 120 members worldwide, the club was founded as an alternative to straight home-exchange organizations, since many gay and lesbian travellers prefer to arrange home exchanges without feeling the need to explain their sexual orientation.
Membership for one year costs approximately the same as one night in a downtown hotel. Member's confidentiality is assured. Call 800-787-0010 or write Doug Rattray, Club Ex Network, PO Box 101, London SW12 OPR, UK, (Tel/Fax 44-81-6756195).

In February 1991 Boadt received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army. Boadt currently serves as a logistics coordinator for a state professional association in Columbus, Ohio.
The GLBVA, a social and advocacy group, was founded in 1990 and currently has 28 chapters around the country. gay and lesbian population, the club is offering its response," Eastman explained.
It gives all its members a chance to meet interesting new people and, in the subsequent sharing of life experiences, what Eastman calls "an unforgettable growth and learning experience about safe practices, courage, and survival." The nonprofit club, he continued, is a "cheap, practical, win/win opportunity" for all who join.
"AIDS is a war," Eastman asserts, "against a common enemy. Only if all of us work together can we give comfort to the casualties, confront the enemy, and protect one another. And we must do it.'
He stated that the club assures total confidentiality to all members, as well as a wholesome atmosphere in which new friendships may flourish. Details about the organization may be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to PEN PAL, PO Box 635, Chowchilla CA 93610.
